Chefchaouen, a blue dream
Chefchaouen is a city with a very special character, in addition to being built on the mountainside. But if it fascinates travelers so much, it is because it exudes an impression of unreal. The facades of its houses are tinted blue and white, the whole city seems bathed in azure. We walk there as in a dream.
However, Chefchaouen is much more than just an adornment. The city is full of attractions. Its heritage is rich. There is the Medina, small but authentic: to borrow its alleys is to mingle with the local population, to feel the daily aromas, that of the bread freshly out of the oven, that of the tajines skilfully prepared. There is also the Kasbah which stands in the middle of the old quarter: its lush gardens are a haven of freshness in the very heart of the city. Its museum is also worth a visit: there is a collection of ancient weapons, some photos of the city, textiles too.
Taking advantage of its location, Chefchaouen is also a paradise for walkers. The surrounding mountains are crisscrossed with trails that offer pleasant hiking prospects. To travel through them is to discover another Morocco, more remote, that of the Rif chain.
Give your stay the look of a dream and discover the "little blue town"!
Sport in Chefchaouen
Adventure at the gates of the city
It is the Rif Mountains that serve as a backdrop to Chefchaouen. The city is built at the foot of the Kelaa and Meggou mountains. Its reliefs make up magnificent landscapes in the middle of which to indulge in the pleasures of hiking: on foot, by bike or on the back of a donkey, walk the trails, cross a cedar forest and discover the few hamlets established on these heights.
Chefchaouen is one of the pearls of Morocco. Walking there, discovering its heritage according to streets bathed in azure is a delight and it is always with regret that the traveler turns away from it. But by moving away from the center, he discovers the surroundings of the blue city, the wonderful setting in which it is part as well as the many activities he puts within its reach.
These mountains are also carved out of many caves: deep, they are pierced by hundreds of meters of galleries that speleologists can explore. Crisscrossed by rivers, the region also allows you to indulge in water activities that will appeal to thrill seekers: the Oued Laou can be rafting down while other rivers are traversed by canoes that you can borrow.
